Best Meatloaf Recipes

I see lots of recipes for meat loaves that sound way too complicated! When I want meatloaf, I want something I mix up quickly, pop in the oven, and be done! I typically use just plain ground beef for my meat loaves. I do believe the meatloaf mix with ground pork, veal and beef tastes better so opt for that if you have a good supply.

My Favorite Simple Meatloaf Recipes

My Mom's Favorite Meatloaf - how she made it when I was a kid

Mustardy Meatloaf - baked in a square pan with some mustard mixed into the loaf and topped with bacon.

Poultry Flavored Meatloaf - a little sage or poultry season provides a great flavor

Simple Meatloaf with Maple Syrup Topping - maple syrup and ketchup on top are the key. This is my current favorite.

Super Cheap Meatloaf - Just a pound of meat but stretched with bread crumbs and oatmeal and minced vegetables.

Worcestershire Meatloaf - okay actually lots of my favorites have Worcestershire sauce, whether the original recipe did nor not.

What is the Cooking Time for Meatloaf?

If you bake meatloaf in a loaf pan, the traditional way, bake it at 350 F for 45 minutes to an hour. If you're not in a rush and want some baked potatoes to with the meatloaf, that works great.

Spread the meat mixture in a 9x9 pan and bake at 400 Ffor 30 - 35 minutes.

skillet meatloavesYou can bake individual sized meat loaves by using muffin tins. (Grease the tins first.) Bake at 375 F for 30 minutes.

If you're really in a hurry, form patties from your mixture and bake in a skillet, about 4 - 5 minutes per side over medium heat. Top with your topping sauce, put the lid on and cook another minute or two.

Double the Recipe and Freeze a Meatloaf for Later

Meat loaves can be frozen, either raw (as long as the meat was not previously frozen) or baked. You might as well double the recipe and mix up two, then freeze one for another night.
