I was sent a review copy of Cut Your Grocery Bill in Half with America’s Cheapest Family and am pleased to say it is chock-full of good information for those wanting some ideas on how to cut back on their grocery budget. It is not just recipes. In fact, there are hardly any (although there is a selection at the back of some of their favorites.)
The book is full of strategies around various areas that will help you reduce your food spending. They cover the basics of making a menu plan and list, review coupon strategies, address ways to cook that are cheaper (for example, grinding your own beef, bulk cooking, having meal swap clubs, etc.), give their recommendations for expensive but worthwhile kitchen appliances, ideas on feeding kids and the importance of having a family dinner, and even how to eat out strategically. There are also ideas on bulk buying and food storage, plus some ideas on growing your own food.
If you’re new to cooking and want to do some real power savings on your budget, this book is sure to spark some ideas and inspire you to try a few new things.
