We all have it, I’m sure. Little bits of leftover cereal sitting around in boxes, going stale. No one’s going to eat it. I tried mixing the various bits of leftovers at one point and the girls looked at me quite strangely when I tried to get them to eat it one morning. And they’re normally good eaters…but they’re not big cold cereal fans, hence we periodically try something and then it sits.
But today I found a way to use it up. On one of my cooking lists, someone mentioned making Rice Krispie treats and subbing up to 1/4 of the Rice Krispies with leftover cereal. I added some leftover stale Kix to chocolate chip cookies tonight. A big hit!

My first thought was Deep fried Ice cream! if you haven’t tried it, stop what your doing and google it. It calls for corn flacks, how ever most cereal would work, as long as there isn’t stuff like marshmallows that could melt. (ice cream is frozen very hard and only softens during frying) Now that I’m thinking, you could sprinkle over yogurt, or make some pop corn and make that expensive toffee corn at home, the one with pretzels, potato chips, and chocolate.

My husband’s solution for leftover cereal: just put everything together in one bag– shredded wheat, Trix, Grape Nuts… it’s all the same, right? Cookies will taste so much better!

That is close to what I am looking for. A recipe I lost took 4 cups of any crumbs from any products and 1 cup of jam, jelly or canned fruit instead of sugar; it may have had a cup or so of flour, the usual soda, baking powder for 2 cups of flour and I don’t think any salt..

Hi,
I really enjoy your site and hope you don’t mind that I added it to the links on my site. It didn’t occur to me to check with folks first, but now I’m trying to rectify the error of my ways.
Here’s the URL to my site:

If you would prefer that I remove the link, just let me know, okay?
Thanks,
