I got the basis for this flank steak rub from Cooking Light, but left out their red pepper flakes. This makes a nice spicy rub. It’s not hot spicy although it would be if you add in the red pepper flakes. . I rubbed this on the meat about an hour before grilling it.
It’s good as is but also makes great tacos!
Flank Steak Rub
Put this rub on your steak a few hours before grilling. Serve as is or use the meat to make tacos.
Ingredients
- 2 Tbs olive oil
- 2 tsp paprika
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp celery seeds
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions
- Mix all the rub ingredients together, then smear on both sides of the steak, at least an hour before cooking. Salt and pepper lightly then grill the meat over medium high heat about 12-14 minutes total, turning halfway through. Then let the meat rest on a plate or cutting board for 5 minutes before slicing.
