A simple how-to with pictures. Garlic isn’t hard to peel but the papery skins stick. I have seen this method in multiple places so I don’t know who to credit. But basically you want to cut the root end off (the less pointy end typically),
then smash the garlic clove with a large knife.
Lay the knife on top of the clove, then smash down with your non cutting hand (I’m mostly right-handed so this would be my left hand). You can smash it gently, leaving the clove almost whole, or really give it a good whack and smash the garlic clove to release more of the juice.
The papery skin will peel off easily leaving you with peeled garlic.
No need to buy some gadget to waste space in your drawer and use up your hard-earned money.
