A visual round-up of the recipes I’ve made and loved so far from Lidia Cooks from the Heart of Italy.
This book is organized by regions of Italy, with a sampling of appetizers, soups, salads, main dishes and desserts. The pictures in the book give you a nice view of the countryside, markets, and such of each region, plus various dishes are shown as well. The directions for each recipe I’ve tried have been very clear. I’ve also watched the tv show as well. You can see more of her recipes on her web site.
The first photo is of pork chops with capers and peperoncini, which I made last night. I cut her recipe down to one pork chop as I was just cooking for myself. The second one (on the right) is potatoes with dried crushed red peppers flakes. I grew these Italian peppers in my garden this year and have a whole string of them hanging up! Next is another pork chop recipe, smothered with sauteed onions and provolone cheese. Then we have the provolone turnovers, and finally a really good vegetable soup.
