So the chicken formally known as Cora turned out to be a rooster. He had a bit of a delayed puberty I guess and then suddenly the honking in the morning started and the wattles and comb grew almost overnight it seemed. He is now gone. The guy I had build my coop and got the chickens from came down and swapped me for this new hen, who is a beauty!
She is settling in with the other two and promptly laid an egg for me yesterday,which my broody hen promptly went to sit on. It was a beautiful speckled egg but I didn’t get a picture. Stella laid an egg too. She just started late last week so yesterday was the first day I got TWO EGGS. Yay!
My brother has a hen like this, and a chicken which looks like a rooster but eventually we learned that it is a hen. Funny, but there are many peculiar species of chicken nowadays.
