This wasn’t my mother’s sloppy joe mix but it was quite good. The barbecue sauce added a nice tang that my eldest appreciated.
Sloppy Joes with Barbecue Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 stalk celery, diced
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 10 oz can of condensed tomato soup
- 2 Tbs or so of barbecue sauce
- 1 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef of turkey.
- Add the onion and celery and cook until softened. Drain if there’s much fat.
- Add the ketchup, soup, barbecue sauce, and Worcestershire sauce and bring to a simmer. Simmer over low heat 10-15 minutes. If it gets to thick add some more water. Taste and add salt and pepper as desired.
- Serve over toasted buns.
